About
About

The Ludwig Museum in Cologne was designed by architects Peter Busmann and Godfried Haberer. Construction began in 1980 and was completed in 1986, the year the museum officially opened. The building's distinctive design, with its sawtooth roof and integration into the cityscape near the Cologne Cathedral, reflects both functionality and a bold architectural presence. It is renowned for its extensive holdings of pop art, including one of the largest collections of works by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein outside the United States, as well as significant pieces of abstract, surrealist, and expressionist art. The museum also features a major collection of Russian avant-garde and regularly hosts cutting-edge temporary exhibitions.
